Is it natural to believe in religion?

Interesting study on the nature of human belief! Here’s a small except from the article:

"This project does not set out to prove God or Gods exist. Just because we find it easier to think in a particular way does not mean that it is true in fact. If we look at why religious beliefs and practices persist in societies across the world, we conclude that individuals bound by religious ties might be more likely to cooperate as societies.

Interestingly, we found that religion is less likely to thrive in populations living in cities in developed nations where there is already a strong social support network.”

Note that this is a media release and not a link to the actual study, which I would have much rather read.

I laugh at christians who say shit like this. The creator of our entire universe did not progress with us as a society. You are either worshiping a God who condones killing children, or you are admittedly following a false religion. You can’t have it both ways.

Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones.
